Greystone Wool and Jute Rug
The Greystone rug is handwoven from a considered blend of wool and jute, combining the softness and resilience of wool with the natural strength and texture of jute. The result is a grounded, tactile surface with quiet visual depth.
Constructed using a structured flatweave technique, Greystone features a tightly bound base that gives the rug its durability and clean, architectural profile. Wool fibres are interwoven through the jute foundation, introducing subtle tonal variation and softness underfoot while allowing the natural character of the jute to remain visible.
The weave creates a rhythmic, lightly flecked pattern in neutral stone and charcoal tones, offering visual interest without dominance. This balance makes Greystone highly versatile, equally suited to living areas, bedrooms, and layered interior schemes where texture is preferred over pattern.
Jute provides inherent strength and shape retention, while wool adds warmth, comfort, and natural performance qualities, including insulation and resilience to everyday wear. Together, they form a rug designed for longevity, texture, and understated presence.
Greystone is a foundational piece, intended to anchor a space quietly and confidently rather than compete for attention.
Sizing & customisations
Sizing & customisations
Proportion is everything. We’ll help you select the right size and layout for your room, not just what looks good on a screen.
Depending on the design, we can advise on configuration and key details, and confirm what can be tailored before anything is locked in. If you share a few photos and rough measurements, we’ll recommend the best scale and shape for the space.
Fabrics & finishes
Fabrics & finishes
Choosing the right fabric matters as much as the design itself. It determines how the piece feels, how it sits in the room, how it wears day to day, and how it holds up over the years, especially in high-use homes.
There are many fabric options, and the best choice depends on how you live. Kids, pets, direct sunlight, entertaining, everyday lounging, each one changes what “right” looks like.
Where possible, we recommend visiting the showroom. It’s the fastest way to compare texture, weave and tone in person, and to see how colours read in natural light. If you can’t make it in, we’re happy to guide you remotely, with recommendations based on your home, the room, and whether this is a feature piece or part of a wider interiors scheme.
Artefact works only with premium fabrics from established industry leaders, selected for performance, comfort and longevity. If you want a higher-touch approach, we can also support you through a phone consult or an in-home styling session.
Delivery & lead times
Delivery & lead times
Every Artefact piece is made to order. Once your size, configuration and fabric are confirmed, we’ll provide an estimated lead time and keep you updated through production.
Delivery is quoted and scheduled based on your location and access requirements, including stairs, lifts, narrow entries and site constraints. When your piece is ready, we’ll coordinate a delivery time that suits.
If timing matters, tell us early. We’ll guide you to the best path for your home and your schedule.
We’ll provide care guidance based on your selected fabric, including the basics that make a real difference, regular light vacuuming, prompt attention to spills, and avoiding prolonged direct sunlight where possible.
If you’re choosing for a high-use home, kids or pets, we’ll recommend fabrics that perform well and age gracefully.
Because each piece is made to order, changes are time-sensitive and may not be possible once production is underway. We’ll confirm the approval point in writing so you know exactly when specifications become locked.
If something arrives damaged or not as ordered, contact us promptly with photos so we can resolve it quickly. Full detail sits in our FAQ and terms.
